1. Understand search intent
A search engine tries to satisfy the intent behind a query: to learn (« how to secure a wifi »), to compare, or to buy/contact (« business video surveillance installation »). Each page of your site must clearly answer one intent, with the words your customers really use, not your jargon.
2. Choose your keywords
- List your services and the questions customers ask you.
- Favour precise phrases (« IT security audit small business ») over overly broad terms.
- Assign one main topic per page and a few natural variants.
- Watch what competitors already appearing for your queries are doing.
3. Perfect the key elements of each page
| Element | Best practice |
|---|---|
| Title tag | Unique, about 50–60 characters, main topic first |
| Meta description | Unique, 120–155 characters, clear and inviting (it influences clicks) |
| H1 heading | Only one per page, restating the topic in natural language |
| H2/H3 subheadings | A logical structure that breaks the content down |
| URL | Short, readable, no accents or needless parameters |
| Images | Light, with descriptive alt text and declared dimensions |
4. Write truly useful content
Search engines favour pages that answer the question completely, with expertise and clarity. Show what you can do: examples, steps, comparisons, answers to objections. Avoid hollow text or text repeated from page to page; fewer pages, but excellent ones.
5. Get the technical side right
- Speed: light pages, compressed images, few scripts.
- Mobile: readable and usable on phones.
- HTTPS and a secure site.
- A correct sitemap and robots file.
- Structured data to help engines understand your pages.
6. Link your pages together
Internal linking (links between your pages) helps visitors and engines understand your site's organisation and distribute importance. Link your service pages to the guides that go deeper, with explicit link text.
7. Measure and adjust
Register your site in Google Search Console (free): it shows the queries that bring you visitors, the indexed pages and the errors to fix. Review results monthly and improve what is not working.
